Privacy policy

We collect as little as we can. Your location is used to look up earthquakes, rounded to about 1 km, and is not tied to an account. Analytics and advertising cookies load only if you accept them.

Location

If you press “Use my location”, your browser sends coordinates to our server to find nearby earthquakes. We round them to two decimal places (about 1 km) and do not store them in our database. The last location you chose is saved in your own browser (local storage) so the page can reload it. You can clear it in your browser settings.

Accounts (API users)

If you sign in with Google to use the API, we receive and store your Google account email, name and profile image, and a Google account identifier. We store hashed API keys, credit balances and a log of API usage (endpoint and time) so we can bill and prevent abuse.

Payments

Payments are processed by Stripe. We never see or store your card number. We keep your Stripe customer ID and the purchase record.

Analytics and advertising

With your consent we use Google Analytics to understand which pages are useful, and Google AdSense to show ads. These services set cookies and may collect your IP address and device information. See Google’s explanation of how Google uses data from sites that use its services. If you decline, neither loads.

Server logs

Our hosting stack keeps standard access logs (IP address, time, URL, user agent) for security and troubleshooting.

Your choices

You can decline cookies, block location access, or delete your account and data by emailing us from the address on your account (see contact).
